This 2001 BMW Z3 Coupe is a sunroof-delete example that is finished in black over black leather and features the factory Sport Package. The car was acquired by the seller in an October 2018 BaT auction, and it has since been driven approximately 3,000 miles as well as receiving an oil change and an alignment. Power is from a 3.0-liter M54 inline-six mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Modifications include a Dinan cold air intake and Stage 2 software tune, a MagnaFlow cat-back exhaust system, and a weighted BMW shift knob. This Z3 is offered with service records, a window sticker, and a clean Georgia title in the seller’s name.
The car is one of 209 Z3 coupes finished in Jet Black (668), 18 of which were reportedly sunroof-delete examples. The bumpers show evidence of touch-ups, and blemishes on the roof are detailed in the gallery below. The Sport Package includes a mesh front air dam.
The Z3 badge has been removed from the rear hatch and clear front side marker lenses replace the original orange items, which are included in the sale. The 17″ Style 32 wheels wear Kumho Ecsta 4X tires measuring 225/45 up front and 245/40 in the rear. A wheel alignment was performed in March 2018.
Interior features include black Nappa leather sport seats, an M-sport steering wheel, Harman Kardon audio, and wood accents. A weighted BMW Competition Package shift knob and Kenwood head unit replace the factory equipment, which is also included in the sale. The seller notes wear on the center stack control surfaces and scratches on the center console.
Just under 72k miles are shown on the digital odometer, with 3k added by the seller in the past five months.
The 3.0-liter M54 inline-six is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and a 25% locking rear differential with an optional shorter final drive ratio. Stock output was 225 horsepower when new, though a Dinan cold air intake and Stage 2 software tune were added under prior ownership. An oil change was performed in March 2019, while service in the July 2018 included replacement of the valve cover gasket, spark plugs, and differential fluid.
Printed and handwritten service records are said to document work performed since 2002. The cooling system was reportedly overhauled in 2015 with a new radiator, thermostat, fan, water pump, drive belts, and pulley tensioner. A new mass air flow meter was also installed at that time.
Options and equipment are shown on the window sticker along with a $38,270 MSRP. Two factory keys are also included in the sale.

As one of my friends told me, I go through cars as often as most folks go through take out (I told him there are way worse "offenders" here on RL), so with that said, for sale is my 2001 BMW Z3 Coupe "clown shoe." I purchased this car from BaT (link below) to go along with my 991 as a daily driver. It has a Dinan intake, Stage 2 software, and Magnaflow exhaust. It is also a sunroof delete model, which is apparently rare. After purchasing it I installed clear side markers, changed the factory radio to a modern radio with bluetooth streaming (factory radio goes with the car), and a BMW ZHP weighted shifter (original shift knob included). With the mods it sounds fantastic and has some real go, plus it is so small it is easy to zip around everywhere. It also gets more thumbs up and questions than any car I've owned. I'm selling due to the fact that I need a bigger car as my second car. Out of all of the cars I've had, I can honestly say that it is one of the most engaging and fun to drive cars, so much so that for a moment I considered selling my 991 and keeping this car. I will update this ad later with more recent pictures, but I just wanted to put it out there for now.
Here is the BaT link with more details than I could ever hope to provide: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2001-bmw-z3-coupe-10/
In the spirit of full disclosure, every now and then the Service Engine Soon (check engine light) comes on. This has happened maybe 5x to me, but it always goes off after a day or two. I had no issues with passing emissions here in Atlanta. The first time it happened I plugged in my OBD2 reader and the error codes (P0171 and P0174), which had to do with it running lean. I was going to take it in, but then it went off. I flew to NC and drove the car back to Atlanta and have had no problems with it whatsoever. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it to CA tomorrow. Mileage will continue to creep up as I drive it around most days.
