Seller Description

This is a fantastic 1999 BMW Z3 Coupe in Cosmos Black with a tan leather interior. 109,558 miles, excellent condition. It is a salvage title vehicle- it was hit lightly in the front (only the hood was replaced, still has original body panels elsewhere and original factory windshield).

I love this car- it growls and has plenty of power. I bought it several months back after I closed a large deal (I'm a loan officer), and am only selling it to liquidate some "toys" to get into an oil investment. I have always loved this body style as it is extremely rare and much more unique than your typical BMW. I always get compliments everywhere I drive her. Even in LA- land of sports cars :). At the time I was shopping for one, I did not want to spend $12k-$15k for a clean title Z3 Coupe, nor $18-$25k+ for an M Coupe, so when I came across this clean example I purchased it and made some improvements to make it faster. You will love this car. I would be willing to purchase it back from you in 3-4 months once I start receiving my monthly residuals from my investments.

In the past few months, I have invested over $3k+ in performance upgrades and repairs. First off, it has the ultra-reliable 2.8 liter engine, which already provides excellent power and response for this body style from the factory (the Z3 is lighter than the 328i or 528i models w/the same engine). Upgrades: K&N cold air intake, in-line air charger (spins at 5k rpm upon acceleration), Supersprint stainless steel headers, Magnaflow type free-flow muffler. High performance MSD type ignition. These intake/exhaust upgrades give the car amazing sound and performance (fully unrestricted exhaust system), and have increased the vehicle's horsepower 30+. Because of the stainless steel headers installation, the catalytlic converters were removed but will be included with the vehicle (you can keep the headers on or remove them- a California smog certificate is included that is good for another 30 days). New drilled/slotted brake rotors w/ceramic pads (zinc plated- will never rust). New radiator, valve cover gasket, battery, tune-up (NGK "R" spark plugs), oil change (Mobil synthetic), new alignment, new 3M window tint (35%). All repair receipts included. Both Carfax and Autocheck reports are available upon request. Yes, I was planning on keeping this car and got bit by the high performance "bug".

Overall, this car is in excellent shape. The paint shines beautifully and has minimal scratches and rock chips. The interior has no holes or tears. Factory Harmon Kardon CD stereo and speakers. Original books/owners manual and original window sticker ($39,000 new!). The engine is tight w/no leaks. Transmission shifts perfect w/no grinding or slipping (clutch feels new). Suspension is tight w/no funny noises. Ice cold air conditioning (just re-charged). New BMW "M" floor mats (factory original). The instrument cluster was replaced by The BMW Store in Cincinnati, OH at 57,020 miles (repair receipt indicates bad pixels), and the current odometer reads 52,538 miles, so the car has 109,558. My girlfriend has a Z3 Roadster, and she had the same issue with her cluster (we bought a replacement one on Ebay- parts are readily available for these cars and many are interchangeable with the common E46 3 series).

Items of note: abs light goes off and on (my mechanic says it's the switch- I have driven it this way since I got it without any problems), check engine light on (from catalytic converter delete), tires are at 50%, radio volume knob only works when pulling it out (I use my iPod for volume control), moon roof doesn't tilt (motor works- could be cables?).

Overall, you will not find a cleaner or faster Coupe in this price range. This car is extremely reliable, and is slippery fast. It's a blast to drive. You will not be short of compliments when out and about. If you are in the Southern California area, you are welcome to view and test drive the car. You will not be dissapointed.

Please be a serious bidder and do not bid unless you plan on completing the sale. My time is very important, so please respect it as I do yours.

Ebay listing ended early and Craigslist listing deleted. Looks like it sold.

It sounds like it's been well taken care of and looks pretty good in general. It's good that the owner is honest with it's faults, so you know just what you are getting. It will take some TLC, but the price seems right.
