Seller Description

This 2001 BMW Z3 Coupe is an unmodified driver with 102k miles and a clean Carfax report. The seller is the fourth owner who’s had car for four years and driven it around 6000 miles. Overall condition is very good and the car retains all VIN matching panels and does not appear to have any accident repair. It has been regularly serviced by a foreign car specialist as well as by Vermont’s only BMW dealer, Automaster in Shelburne, VT, with the most recent service last month in preparation for sale. Jet Black over Walnut leather interior is a unique combo and this looks like a nice example with some of the M Coupe look in a more understated package.

Black paint is in good condition showing flaws commensurate with age and mileage. The air dam is cracked on the lower right side and there is one small raised dent on the right side of the hood. A couple dings are visible on the driver’s side door and there is a small scratch on the right rear fender. The seller provides detailed photos of the imperfections and says the paint could use a good detail.

Optional Style 32 multi-spoke wheels are wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero rubber. The car has been inspected for signs that it has been repainted: tape lines, overspray, orange peel, body panel distortion, and the seller says paint appears to be original. VIN stickers are located on the front fenders, hood, doors and lift gate. The car has been garage kept and parked during the winter months.

Upon taking ownership, the original owner had LLumar window film installed on the rear three windows to protect from sun damage. The walnut and black leather interior is very presentable with the worst area being a torn left driver’s seat bolster. A plastic insert panel near the base of the windshield is cracked (see photo) but otherwise the dash is clean.

All interior accessories are in working order to include A/C, Harmon Kardon Sound System, power driver’s seat, windows, moon roof, and cruise control. The central locking system currently only operates the passenger door and rear deck locks. The driver’s side electric door lifter was replaced by Automaster in April 2012.

The M54 3.0L DOHC 24-valve straight-six is housed in a tidy engine compartment. Unmodified from stock, the car has been reliable over the last 4 years and is a comfortable highway cruiser and capable on the Vermont backroads. The current owner has maintained the car at Automaster BMW and a local shop with 44 years of experience. In 2011, the traction control system was repaired along with a few minor fluid leaks. Undercarriage photos viewable below were taken last month during the car’s recent routine service appointment.

The seller purchased the car in March 2011 at which time it had 94,891 on the odometer. The original window sticker, BMW Z3 New Owner Audio disc, owner’s manual, BMW service binder, original set of three keys, complete toolkit and jack are included.

Sounds like a well cared for, stock coupe. The walnut interior is the big highlight. It does need some miscellaneous TLC, but nothing too major. It's a great deal at the current bid.
