The time has finally come for me to give up my BMW Z3 Coupe. It’s a great car, but I need to move on to one that is more “senior friendly.”
I am the car’s fourth owner, but the three previous owners were collectors, so the car only has around 50,400 miles on the odometer. I purchased the Z3 in December, 2015, when it had just over 18,000 miles. It has the 3.0 liter, in-line 6 cylinder, FI DOHC 24 valve engine, and 5-speed manual transmission. The car recently passed the smog test without any problems. It is now registered in California until February 2025, and is located in San Jose.
The car does need a little work. The most serious problem is clicking noise from the engine’s valve lifters. However, the noise in no way interferes with the car’s overall performance or gas milage. I have decided to not fix this problem because the labor charges for this repair is beyond my budget, and the car drives just fine. Another problem is the rear window washer. I’ve had the washer motor replaced, and the electrical wiring repaired, but it still does not work. The bottom front bumper also has some minor damage from running into a high entrance to a driveway.
This Z3 needs to go to someone who wants to work on the car and keep it in good shape. Any other problems with the car are very minor, like a dashboard light that is out, and a small oil leak from the engine’s value cover.
The car I purchased came with a few after-market modifications, including a rear window spoiler, custom BMW wheels, and an enhanced exhaust system. It also came with a car cover that I have never used since I park it inside my garage. The only modification I have made was the replace the original radio with an Alpine XM receiver, which is also smart phone Bluetooth capable. I have added a Thule roof rack, so I can carry my bike. The rack is easy to install and remove on the BMW roof presets with an alien wrench. The car cover and roof racks are available to the new owner if they want them.
