Doug's Take
The BMW Z3 Coupe "Clown Shoe" is a fantastic and uniquely-shaped car that's a lot rarer than the Roadster model – and it's beloved by the enthusiast community for its engaging driving experience and surprising practicality. This particular Z3 Coupe is a one-owner car with only 37,700 miles on the odometer, which is impressive. It boasts a 5-speed manual transmission and some great factory equipment – including a limited-slip differential, a power sunroof, and heated seats. It also features some neat modifications like 18-inch wheels, JBL speakers, and a MOMO shift knob, which help it further stand out. To top it off, this Z3 Coupe comes with a clean, accident-free Carfax report, for added peace of mind.
Highlights
THIS... is a 2001 BMW Z3 3.0i Coupe, finished in Titanium Silver Metallic with a black interior.
- This Z3 features the desirable 5-speed manual transmission, and its odometer currently displays about 37,700 miles.
- The attached Carfax history report indicates no accidents or mileage discrepancies in this Z3's past. It also shows registration to one owner since new.
- According to the window sticker provided in the gallery, factory equipment includes a limited-slip differential, a power sunroof, leather upholstery, power-adjustable and heated sport seats, and air conditioning.
- Modifications reported by the seller include 18-inch Helo HE834 wheels, a Pioneer head unit, JBL speakers, a MOMO shift knob, and an Autologic ECM performance tune.
- Released for 1996, the Z3 was welcomed as a rear-wheel-drive roadster with two seats and a relatively affordable price tag; it was a true driver's car. BMW kept development costs in check by sourcing some components from the E30 and E36 3 Series parts bins, and it built the Z3 in South Carolina. 1997 brought a 6-cylinder engine, and the coupe arrived for 1999 with a shooting brake-like design that earned it the nickname "Clown Shoe." Production of both body styles ended in 2002.
- Power comes from a 3.0-liter inline-6, rated at 225 horsepower and 214 lb-ft of torque in stock form. Due to the tune performed on this Z3, it may produce more power, but a dyno sheet was not provided to confirm. Output is sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission.
